Visitors whether local or from a far, as well as new bowlers are very welcome, so come and visit us today.
29 August 2010Last week I commented on the 3 Chipstead pairs playing for a place in the Borough pairs Finals Day at Reigate Priory on 4 September. The good news is that both pairs of Ian Steele and Derek Pearce and Chris Hill and Craig Baker won their games and join Dickie Day and Eric Batchelor in the last 4, Good luck to all 3 pairs. We also had a pair playing on the neutral Sutton Green in the semi final of the Sutton and District BLESMA pairs competition last Friday afternoon which I regret got under my radar last week so was not mentioned. However they were successful so I can send Dave Botting and Derek Pearce good wishes for the Final when it gets played at the end of the season. The rest of last weeks news is less positive as Damien went down by 21/i4 in the first round of the National singles and we went out of the Yonwin Cup on Saturday morning to Cheam Sports by the narrowest of margins i.e. 1 shot. This was a very tight close game throughout which could have gone either way. We actually lost on 2 of the 3 rinks but had a fine win in the 3rd. Playing the final end on our winning rink we held a 3 shots advantage but dripped a 4 when the opposing Skip moved the jack back with his 3rd wood. Such fine margins. Next Sunday, 5 September, is the Clubs Finals Day. The vast majority of Finalists are now known but 2 or 3 games are still due to be plaed. Actual times of games is still to be arranged but the following matches will take place: 1) Mens Championship Roger Mallett v Derek Pearce or Dave Botting 2) Ladies Championship Carolyn Probert v Jan Thornton or Marion Fillery 3) Mixed Pairs Cherry Movce/ Roy Probert v Nita Arnold/Gary Olver 4) Ladies 50 UP Cherry Moyce v Sally Wilson 5) Ladies 2 Woods Sally wilson v Marion Fillery 6) Mens 2 Woods Chris Hill v Brian Hart 7) Mens Singles Shots Handicap John Wilson(18) v Gary Olver (22) 8) Mens Singles Handicap 21 Ends Derek Rowe v John Wilson ( Receives 5) 9) Mens Junior Championship Tony Baker v Gary Olver 10) Mens Handicap Pairs Tony Baker/ Dave Pearce v Roger Mallett/ Bob Morss or Ian Warren/Duncan Meecham 11) Dave Jeffreys Triples E.
